Coliving in the Cote d’Azur
Digital nomading in the South of France
The Cote d’Azur is one of those destinations Charlie knew where beautiful, but she hadn’t really considered. After all, you can’t surf there. When one of her former housemates from the coliving in Gran Canaria told her that he was about to open a Coliving near Nice, Charlie was intrigued. She joined them for the opening weekend and housewarming party.
Nomad Union Coliving
The coliving of Nomad Union is in the village of Biot, near Antibes and half way between Nice and Cannes in the Cote d’Azur. It is a spacious villa in a quiet residential area that displays the typical charme of the French Riviera.
The founders, Manuel and Giedre, live on the premises too and know the ins and outs of digital nomading. They met in Gran Canaria and used their own experience and network of digital nomad friends to fully understand the requirements for a perfect coliving. Here it comes: spacious rooms with double beds and desks, a coworking area, a fully equipped kitchen, a huge comfy sofa, a terrasse, a garden, BBQ area, a pool, a gym. And at Nomad Union, the coliving in the French Riviera, there’s more: a massage chair, a Play Station, a fireplace, a bar and a sauna. What more could you possibly want?
The rooms at Nomad Union Coliving
The villa near Nice that has been turned into a coliving has 6 bedrooms, suitable for single or double occupancy, and a separate 2-bedroom flat. Each room has a desk with an ergonomic chair and a lot of natural light. The room “Monaco” has it’s own entrance and direct access to the pool and terrasse. The biggest room, room “Paris” has an ensuite bathroom and a roof terrasse. Prices vary depending on room size and length of stay and start at €40 per night.
The common area is an open-space living and coworking area with adjacent kitchen. The latter is fully equipped and there is always coffee available. Each housemate has their own shelf in the cupboards and fridges. There is a dining table in the kitchen and another table at the terrasse that leads to the garden.
How to get around and explore from Nomad Union Coliving
The coliving in the south of France is well connected by public transport. If you’re coming from the airport in Nice, it is best to take the train to Biot and from there a bus. The connections are not shown on Google Maps and you better use the app SNCF Connect. There are also Uber and Bolt in the area and a ride from the airport is between €25 and €30.
There is parking available at Nomad Union if you prefer to come by car.
You can get to Cannes, Nice and Antibes by public transport if you want to explore the area and there are bikes and e-bikes available at the coliving.
Housewarming for digital nomads
For the official opening of Nomad Union Coliving at the end of April 2024, Manuel and Giedre organized a housewarming party for their first guests and invited some friends. The day started with pancakes at the terrasse, continued with funny games in the garden and the pool, followed by a hot dog party in the afternoon and pizza and beer pong at the later hour.
Charlie would say that they made good use of everything the coliving offers: frisbee golf in the garden, meals at the terrasse, pool games, Play Station, card games, cocktails from the bar and plenty of fun.
