Coffee shops for remote workers in Newquay
Laptop-friendly cafes in the UK surf capital
Newquay is a popular travel destination in Cornwall for visitors of all ages. It’s vibrant surf culture, good train connection and a wide range of accommodation options make it an obvious choice for a getaway.
After the lockdown and the rise of remote work, the Cornish town has become a haven for young, independent professionals that wanted to move closer to the surf. You will likely spot a laptop worker as you enter a coffee shop in Newquay. If you are looking for day passes at co-working spaces, check out C-Space and the Newquay Orchard. These are the cafés Charlie has worked from and liked.
The Wave House
While the opening hours are quite restrictive, Wave House is certainly the most unique coffee shop in Newquay. Set inside a church, it mixes religious elements with a passion for surfing. There are plenty of tables, strong Wifi and plugs. The staff makes the space very welcoming and serves a delicious breakfast or lunch. There is a skate ramp and an area for kids, so you can expect some background noise. It is meant to be a community space and they love for guests to hang out all day.
Location: Wave House Church, East St, Newquay, TR7 1BH
Opening Hours: Mondays 7.30 to 9.30 am, Tuesday 11.30 am to 3 pm, Fridays 9.30 am to 3.30 pm*

Fistral Beach Hotel Bar
If an ocean view isn’t too distracting, the café and bar at Fistral Beach Hotel might be your favourite workspace in Newquay. It certainly was for Charlie – also, because it is around the corner from Oceanflow Yoga Studio. The Bay Bar doesn’t get too busy during the day and there is good Wifi and plugs. As a hotel, they have an extensive menu for any meal, including small lunch plates and coffee. If you’re up for a sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, why not stay for an after work drink. The Bay Bar has the best opening hours in this list of coffee shops to work from in Newquay.
Location: Esplanade Rd, Newquay TR7 1PT
Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday 10 am to 11pm, Friday to Saturday 10 am to midnight*

Bank St Kitchen
You couldn’t get more central in Newquay than Bank St Kitchen. This coffee shop is small, but Charlie did usually get a spot near a plug. There is Wifi and a menu for breakfast or lunch. The café is in between the shops on Newquay’s highstreet.
Location: 8 Bank St, Newquay TR7 1JF
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 10 am to 3 pm*

Sprout Health Foods
Easy to miss as it’s located in a side road off the highstreet, Sprout is a vegan café and health store with some indoor seating by the windows and a small garden at the back. They have good Wifi and a WhatsApp group to build a community around the space. If you’re sitting inside, there are plugs. The café is open longer than most other coffee shops in Newquay.
Location: The Old Printhouse, Newquay TR7 1FZ
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 5pm*

Nalu Coffee House
This coffee shop is closer to Great Western Beach and the train station in Newquay and can easily be missed. If you head from the train station towards the town centre, you cross the first road and walk towards left into something that looks like a private court yard. You’ll see Nalu Coffee House from there.
The café has Wifi. It is small, but Charlie never struggled to find a table to sit and work from. They also serve great coffee, breakfast and lunch.
Location: Unit 7, Morfa Hall Flats, Cliff Rd, Newquay TR7 1SG, United Kingdom
Opening hours: Monday – Sunday 7 am to 4 pm*

Saltd
If you get a spot by the window upstairs, you can see the ocean from your table. You have to ask for the Wifi password and you will see plenty of plugs at Saltd. The connection is good and you can enjoy lunch or breakfast.
The upstairs room resembles a coworking setup and is sometimes closed off for private events. You can still sit comfortably downstairs and enjoy the surfy vibes this place provides. There are some play areas for kids and there might be some play action going on.
Location: 6 Station Parade, Newquay TR7 2NF, United Kingdom
Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 8 am to 4 pm, Sunday 8.30 am to 2.30 pm*

Box & Barber
A popular spot for breakfast and lunch, you need to be lucky to get a spot. Once you do, you will likely not leave for the rest of the day. The Wi-Fi password is conveniently written on signs in several places inside of Box & Barber and you have a strong connection. In between pancakes and avocado toast, you can make it a productive day.
