Charlie visits the most beautiful town in Belgium

Charlie went for a weekend trip to Belgium to meet with some old friends. They had all been playing Volleyball together when she was living in Malta and were now meeting to play a tournament in Ostend. The day after the tournament, they all met for breakfast at the hotel and were making plans for the day.

Charlie hadn’t planned anything, the others wanted to go to Bruges. They quickly checked how many spaces they had in the car and it was enough for all of them to go together. It was a 20-minute drive from Ostend to Bruges. It is not recommended to drive into the historic centre of Bruges which is why they parked the cars at the train station and walked into the centre. They were passing by beautiful houses, the Belfry tower, canals and found themselves at The Beer Wall. Initially, it was only meant to be for a photo until they noticed that there was a beer tasting option. For €10 you would get 4 small beers and a snack. Charlie, Ethan and George went for the local option, the others went for a full pint of different Belgian beers.

After the stop at The Beer Wall, they continued their walk around the town and decided that it was time for lunch. It turned out to be not so easy to find a restaurant that was reasonably priced and could host a group of 10 people on a Sunday, but they found one.

After lunch they had to rush back to the car as the flight to Malta would leave at 7 p.m. from Charleroi and they still had a bit to drive down there. Ben and Antje stayed in Bruges for another night before taking the train back to Austria. Ethan and George went back to Germany and dropped Charlie off in Brussels as it was on their way anyways. Charlie would spend another day in Brussels before taking the Eurostar back to London on Monday evening.
