WSL: Updated 2021 Tour Schedule
New dates and locations for the CT 2021
One month before the official tour starts, the World Surf League revised the 2021 schedule to safely bring back the championship tour of surfing.
The good news that had the surf world stoked was the announcement that the WSL finals in September 2021 would be held at Trestles in San Clemente, California. It will be a one-day event where the top 5 men and women compete against each other for the world title.
The sad news is that for now, there won’t be a European stop on the tour as the MEO Pro Portugal in Peniche that was planned for February has been postponed. It seems as if Charlie has to hold on a bit longer to her memories of the Quiksilver Pro 2019.
The opening leg of the championship tour 2021
The first stop of the tour remains unchanged: The women will kick off in Maui, Hawaii, on December 4th for the Maui Pro by Roxy. The men will follow for the Billabong Pipemasters in Oahu, Hawaii on December 8th.
The tour remains in Hawaii for the Sunset Open in January before moving on to California for the Santa Cruz Open in February:
- Maui Pro presented by ROXY in Maui, Hawaii: December 4 – 15, 2020
- Billabong Pipe Masters presented by Hydro Flask in Oahu, Hawaii: December 8 – 20, 2020
- Sunset Open in Oahu, Hawaii: January 19 – 28, 2021
- Santa Cruz Pro in Santa Cruz, California: February 2 – 12, 2021
The next stop will be on April 1st the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach in Australia. The schedule has not changed for the remainder of the season, the Oi Rio Pro, the Corona Open J-Bay and the Outerknown Tahiti Pro are still planned as before, but the WSL will certainly keep a close eye on travel restrictions and safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The whole WSL tour schedule 2021 is subject to change due to COVID-19.
