Cactus Coliving Tenerife

A home for digital nomads in the south of Tenerife

The south of Tenerife is one of the most touristy places in Europe – no doubt! A stay in Los Cristianos or near Playa de las Americas is expensive and you are just surrounded by hotels, nothing of the traditional Canarian way. As a digital nomad, that is not what Charlie wants!

She found a better alternative in a more rural area and still a good bus connection to the surf beach in Playa de las Americas.

The location of Cactus Coliving

Cactus Coliving in Tenerife is in Valle de San Lorenzo, a small town in the province of Arona in the oldest part of Tenerife. By car, it is around 20 minutes to Los Cristianos and the town is served by two bus lines that both take around 45 minutes to Los Cristianos. To be honest, most of the colivers at the house had a rental car!

Valle de San Lorenzo has everything you need: supermarkets, bars and restaurants, a pharmacy, doctors and even a laptop repair shop. It is all within 5 to 10 minutes on foot from the house.

A home for digital nomads

Cactus Coliving is in a converted farm house of significant size and combines modern living with traditional Canarian architecture. The rooms are distributed over two floors and can host up to 20 people in total. The size and layout of the building provide enough space and quiet corners to always find a spot just for yourself, be it on the terrace, the garden, the common area or one of the two coworking spaces.

There is breakfast served daily, and you have two kitchens for communal use, one indoors and one outdoors. There are 10 private rooms for single or double occupancy and a dorm – something for every budget. All rooms are beautifully designed and provide everything a digital nomad needs to feel right at home.

As the name suggests, cacti are the most present plant species around the house. And you also have avocado trees, a lime tree, banana plants and a passion fruit vine in the garden. Watch out on your way in for any fruits that might have fallen down and are inviting you for a snack!

Community at Cactus Coliving Tenerife

In a house of 20 people (plus visitors that use the coworking), you can expect a good community. To ensure everything runs smoothly, there are a few volunteers at the house who organize activities and remind you on occasion to put away your dishes.

There is a weekly community dinner where new colivers introduce themselves and the activities for the week are being discussed. Activities include free yoga lessons, beach volleyball, skill share workshops, beach clean-ups and whatever else the community is interested in. This might be a visit to the local farmers market in Valle San Lorenzo, surf lessons, wine tastings or hiking trips. If the offered activities aren’t your cup of tea, you can always suggest something else or self-organize whatever it is that you would like to do. Of course, nobody forces you to join if you’d rather do your own thing or simply want to enjoy your free time on the terrace and soak in the views of the Roque de Jama, the mountain just opposite.
